BURLINGTON, N.C. - The Methodist women's tennis team opened the USA South Athletic Conference Tournament with a 9-0 win over Mary Baldwin.

The Monarchs jumped out to a 3-0 lead after doubles. Kaitlin Flaherty and Katherine Meindl won 8-0 at number one while Rachel Purser and Dana Powell won 8-1 at number two. Heather Brayton and Jennifer Hamel finished with the 8-1 win at number three.

Flaherty won 6-1, 6-0 at number one and Meindl won 6-0, 6-0 at number two and Purser won 6-1, 6-0 at number three. Powell won 8-2 at number four and Hamel won 8-2 at number five. Stacey Brooks finished with the 8-0 win at number six.

Methodist advances to face N.C. Wesleyan Saturday at 10 a.m.
