GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Methodist baseball team jumped out to an early 4-0 lead over Greensboro and cruised to the 13-4 victory.
The Monarchs put together a two-out rally in the top of the fourth after
Brian Inghram drew the walk. Methodist added three hits to take the 4-0 lead. Greensboro scored two runs in the bottom of the inning, but Methodist came back and took the 10-2 advantage in the third inning. The Monarchs strung together five hits combined with some heads up base running to score six runs.
Greensboro added two runs in the fourth, but Methodist tacked on three in the ninth with a two-run home run from
Brian Goodwin followed by a triple by
Tyler Younger and a RBI single by
Matt Quick.
Landon Jordan pitched six innings with six strikeouts while Tre' Britt,
John Markley and
Hunter Ennis each pitched an inning of relief.
Younger led the Monarchs with a 3-for-4 performance at the plate. Five other players had two hits a piece.
Methodist and Greensboro will play again tomorrow at 5 p.m.
