SALISBURY, Md. - The Methodist men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Mason Dixon Conference Championships over the weekend winning four events and accumulating 26 All-Conference honors with top-eight finishes.
Ruby Blackwell won the 100 meter (12.34 seconds) and the 200 meter (25.25 seconds) races while finishing seventh in the long jump (5.15 meters).
Ashlynn Chavis won the long jump with a leap of 5.83 meters and placed second in the 100 meters (12.71 seconds).
Kristyn Zeiler finished second in the 1500 meters in 4:53.16 and placed third in the 5000 meters in 19:52.25.
Allison Ray had a personal best in the discus placing eighth with a distance of 30.03 meters.
The women placed fifth overall with 52 points in the competition.
On the men's side, Methodist earned 14 points in the 100 meter dash.
Greg Bailey finished second in 10.95 seconds,
Cedric McGill was fourth in 10.97 seconds and
Stefan Johnson was fifth in 11.12 seconds. The three also earned points in the 200 meters with Johnson leading the trio placing third in 22.06 seconds. Bailey was fourth in 22.08 seconds and McGill finished sixth in 22.77 seconds.
Petros Bein was second in the 110 meter hurdles in 15.54 seconds while
Aaron Holmes finished third in the 400 meter hurdles in 56.64 seconds.
McGill, Johnson,
Pierson Singleton and Bailey combined for the 4x100 meter relay and won the event in 41.68 seconds. Johnson, Bailey, Aristotle Nelson and Holmes finished sixth in the 4x400 meter relay in 3:29.77.
Singleton grabbed five points in the long jump and triple jump. He had a personal best 6.97 meters in the long and placed sixth with a personal best 13.16 meters in the triple.
The men finished with 55 points to place fourth overall.
Members of the Methodist track and field team who qualify will travel to the NCAA Division III Championships May 27-29 in Berea, Ohio. The Monarchs will have one final chance to qualify next Saturday at the New Captains Classic.
