Box Score DEMOREST, Ga. - Methodist fell behind early, but battled back with four straight goals to regain the lead and finished with the 4-2 victory over Piedmont College.
The Lions scored first with a long ball in the fourth minute of play. Methodist responded five minutes later with a goal from
Alex Ray with the assist from Christian Kapper.
Scott Horner gave the Monarchs the 2-1 advantage scoring on the assist from
Stan Pajak.
Just before halftime
Clayton Newton scored an unassisted goal to cushion the lead to 3-1 at the break. Newton assisted
Eric McGinnis in the 63rd minute for an insurance goal before Piedmont rallied for their second goal in the final 10 minutes of play.
Methodist goalkeeper
Kyle Beach earned the start with three saves while
Patrick Hamel finished between the posts.
Piedmont's Brian Gaid and Mason Flynn combined for 12 saves for the Lions.
The Monarchs will return to host Shenandoah on Saturday at noon.
