Men's Soccer Shuts Out Salem International

Box Score SALEM, Va. - The Methodist men's soccer team opened up a quick lead on a short handed Salem International team before cruising to an 8-0 win.

A number of freshmen were able to gain valuable minutes on Friday night as the Monarchs earned their second win of the season.

Erik Buendia opened the scoring with a goal just 20 seconds into play. Methodist capitalized on an own goal before Christian Kapper scored the third goal of the game. Angel Banda, Jared Fohs and Stephen Fox added goals in the first half to give the Monarchs the 6-0 lead at halftime.

Fohs scored his second goal of the game in the 67th minute and Bilal Mando finished with a goal in the 72nd for the 8-0 win.

Patrick Hamel earned the shutout with one save in the game.

The Monarchs will take on Roanoke tomorrow at 7:30 p.m.
