Box Score AXTON, Va. –  No. 2 N.C. Wesleyan will play for the USA South Conference men's soccer championship after advancing past No. 3 Methodist 4-3 in penalty kicks Saturday night at Smith River Soccer Complex.

The Monarchs and Bishops played 110 minutes of scoreless soccer, combining for 10 shots on goal, before the shootout began.

The Bishops won the shootout 4-3 after finding itself behind following the second round of the shootout. MU keeper Kyle Beach stopped Justin Wolf on NCWC's second attempt, putting the Monarchs in the advantage position.

Unfortunately for the Methodist faithful, NCWC keeper Alberto Faisca returned the favor on the very next shot to keep his side in it. Faisca then came up with a second save to set Richie Duffie up to knot the match-clinching goal. Beach got a hand on Duffie's shot, but the blast found its way into the back of the net and sent the Bishops into the tournament championship.

Methodist outshot NCWC 15-7 for the game and had two of the game's three corners.

Beach made three saves and Faisca six.

The game is officially entered as a tie in the records leaving Methodist at 11-4-2 for the season.
