FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Methodist Monarchs took care of business on Tuesday as they jumped out to the early lead and cruised to a 14-1 win over Immaculata University.
Tripp Lancaster set the tone when he drew the lead-off walk, stole second and advanced to third on an error before stealing home. The Monarchs put together four hits in the inning including a two-RBI single for
Trey Such to take the 5-0 lead.
Methodist added two runs in the fifth with RBI from
Brian Inghram and Such. Immaculata's Matthew Hardy put the Mighty Macs on the board with a solo home run in the sixth, but Methodist countered with a run of their own in the bottom of the sixth after hits from
Tyler Younger and
Dustin Brown. The Monarchs finished with three runs in the seventh and eighth innings to finish with the 14-1 win.
Brett Bially pitched three scoreless innings with four strikeouts to earn the win.
Louie DeCarolis,
Jaron Cayton,
Reid Berry,
Chris Perry and
Rusty White finished in relief.
The Monarchs will be back in action tomorrow when they travel to Lynchburg College with the first pitch slated for 3 p.m.
