KISSIMMEE, Fla. - The Methodist softball team wrapped up a week of competition at the Rebel Games with a split on Friday against Lake Forest College and Ursinus College.
In the first game of the day, Lake Forest used a four-run eighth inning to win 7-4. Lake Forest took the early 3-0 lead, but the Monarchs came back and rallied with a run in the fourth and two in the sixth to force extra innings. The Foresters put together four hits and capitalized on a defensive error to go ahead 7-3 in the top of the eighth. Methodist's
Jordan Adams scored on a sacrifice fly from
Kimber Hall in the bottom of the inning, but Lake Forest held on for the 7-4 win.
Kimber Hall was 1-for-3 in the game with a two-run game-tying home run.
Alex Winters went 1-for-2.
Chelsie Keene and
Candace Piner combined in the circle with Piner taking the loss.
The Monarchs battled back in the final game rattling off 11 runs with 12 hits while holding Ursinus College scoreless for the 11-0 win.
Hall put the Monarchs on the board after sparking a two-out rally with a double to right center and scoring on a single from
Darci Martin. Martin followed up with a three-run home run in the third inning and
Jordan Adams had a two-RBI double in the fourth to give Methodist the 6-0 lead. The Monarchs wrapped things up in the sixth with five runs on four hits and an error to finish with the 11-0 win.
Hall finished 3-for-4 and
Jody Eyler hit 2-for-3 in the game.
Alex Bass earned the shutout win, giving up just one hit with six strikeouts.
Methodist will be back in action Wednesday when they travel to N.C. Wesleyan College for a doubleheader.
