ATLANTA, Ga. - The Methodist baseball team took the lead on four different occasions, but it was Emory who edged the Monarchs in the 10th inning for the 5-4 win.

With the score tied after nine innings, Methodist went scoreless in the ninth, while Emory capitalized on an error to spark a game-winning rally. Patrick Riebsame reached on an error and after a single by Jonathan Reilly, Andrew Cohn loaded the bases with a walk. The Monarchs brought Tripp Lancaster from centerfield into the infield to protect a run from scoring, but it was all for naught when the umpire called Rusty White for a balk allowing Emory to score the game-winning run.

Methodist opened the scoring in the second inning when Brian Inghram singled and moved to second on a balk before scoring on Chris Perry's single up the middle. Emory tied the game in the bottom of the inning capitalzing on two hits.

The Monarchs regained the lead in the third. Lancaster reached on an infield single and Sergio Davis singled through the left side. Brandon Thigpen followed up with a single to score Lancaster and give Methodist the 2-1 advantage. Emory came back and tied the game in the fifth after a lead-off double, but the Monarchs responded with a run in the top of the sixth. Inghram doubled to left, moved to third on Matt Quick's single and scored on Dustin Brown's sacrifice fly. The Eagles started the bottom of the sixth with another double to tie the game at three.

Both teams scored a run in the seventh with Quick earning a RBI single for Methodist. Neither team could break the tie through the eighth or ninth giving Emory the opportunity to earn the win.

Inghram and Quick were both 3-for-5 at the plate. Davis and Thigpen went 2-for-4.

Tre' Britt pitched seven innings for Methodist scattering eight hits with four strikeouts. Andrew Womble, Josh Ayers and White finished in relief. Ayers took the loss.

Methodist is scheduled to travel to Randolph-Macon on Monday, but the game is tentative pending the Yellow Jacket's run through their conference tournament.
