FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Methodist University Department of Athletics will induct its 14th class into the Hall of Fame Friday, Oct. 21 as part of the annual Homecoming festivities.

The Methodist University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics initiated the Methodist Athletic Hall of Fame in 1997. The selection process is maintained and administered by a committee in conjunction with the Methodist University Athletic Booster Club. To be nominated, the inductees have to be athletes, coaches, or administrators who have compiled an outstanding career at Methodist and/or since leaving Methodist.

Inductees become eligible for the prestigious honor five years after completing their eligibility and must have been of good character. Coaches and administrators become eligible for nomination two years after leaving the department unless they have 15 years of service or more in which they would become eligible immediately upon their departure. Currently, the Methodist Athletic Hall of Fame has 13 classes with 55 members.

This fall, Methodist is pleased to induct track and field runner Danielle Baker '90, women's golfer Jennifer Cieslak '97, baseball player Dan Hartline, men's golfer Ryan Jenkins '95, football player Quincy Malloy '02 and softball player Kristen Wallace Johnson '05.

Danielle Baker competed on the Methodist track and field team from 1985-1989. A six-time All-American, she was just the second woman to earn All-American honors for the track and field team. In 1989 Baker finished third in the 55 meter hurdles and second in the 400 meters during the indoor season before earning fifth and fourth in the 200 and 400 meters respectively. She followed up her success earning All-American honors again in 1990 for the 55 meter hurdles (indoor) and 100 meter hurdles (outdoor). Baker left Methodist with a number of top marks and still holds the indoor record for 55 meter hurdles (8.18) as well as the outdoor records for 100 meter hurdles (14.30) and 400 meters (56.20).

Jennifer Cieslak was a three-time All-American for the women's golf team from 1993-97. Cieslak was named the Division III Player of the Year twice. The Monarchs won three National Championships during her career as she finished with an 81.29 stroke average. In 1997, Cieslak was nominated for Honda's Division III Athlete of the Year award. She was also featured in Sports Illustrated's "Faces in the Crowd" after finishing as the top Division III finisher at the combined Division II and III tournament in 1997. Cieslak wrapped up her career named the Female Senior Athlete of the Year at Methodist.

Dan Hartline is considered one of the top power hitters in the history of Methodist baseball. A star on the diamond from 1985-87, Hartline finished as a two-time All-Conference and two-time All-American selection. He currently holds season records at Methodist for RBI (80), doubles (26) and home runs (17). His RBI mark also still stands as a conference record from 1987 after leading the nation. Hartline led the nation in doubles in 1986 and still ranks in the top five in the Methodist career record books for RBI, triples, home runs, stolen bases and batting average. He was drafted and signed with the Baltimore Orioles in 1987.

Ryan Jenkins is one of just two men's golfers in Methodist history to win two individual national championships. Jenkins took home the title in 1993 and 1995 after adding an individual conference title as well. He helped his team to three conference titles in addition to three National Championships (1992, 1994, 1995). Jenkins finished his career as a three-time All-American and was just the fourth Methodist men's golfer to do so.

Quincy Malloy was a star defensive end for the Methodist football team from 1998-2001. Malloy was part of the Monarchs during the transition to the Dixie Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (DIAC) and finished a two-time All-Conference selection as well as the 2001 DIAC Defensive Player of the Year. He was also a two-time All-American including earning First Team honors from Hewlett Packard as a senior. Malloy holds the Methodist records for career sacks (24) and season sacks (14) while ranking fourth all-time in career tackles (286). In 2001 he was named to the National AFCA Good Works Team and after graduation spent eight years playing arena football in the Fayetteville area.

Kristen Wallace Johnson was a transfer student to Methodist and starred for the Monarchs' softball team for three seasons from 2002-04. She became a two-time All-American and three-time First Team All-Conference selection. She currently holds the Methodist records for career batting average (.425) and season at bats (165). Johnson is also ranked in the top 10 for career at bats, career hits, career runs scored, season hits and season batting average.
