STAUNTON, Va. -- The Methodist volleyball team split a pair of matches on the final weekend of the regular season. The Monarchs fell, 3-0, to Maryville and defeated Mary Baldwin, 3-0 to close out the day.
MU, which closed the regular season at 16-11 overall and 5-6 in the USA South, fell 25-16, 25-16, 25-20 to Maryville (19-11, 10-1 USA South) to open the day and finished with a 25-7, 25-11, 25-13 win over Mary Baldwin (0-25, 0-11 USA South).
In the loss to the Scots,
Allison Graves led the offense with nine kills and
Brittany McCoy and
Hayley Williams added five kills each.
Kendra Krupp posted 21 assists and
Ryanne Greer added a pair of service aces. Defensively, Graves and
Karly Klimas each had eight digs and Williams added a pair of blocks.
In the win over the Fighting Squirrels, McCoy posted a match-high 10 kills and hit .643 as the Monarchs posted a team hitting percentage of .337. Graves added nine kills,
Stephanie Wood contributed eight kills on just 11 attempts (.727) and
Risa Smith chipped in seven kills.
Kendra Krupp totaled 33 assists and
Ryanne Greer notched seven of the Monarchs' 10 service aces. Klimas led the defense with 15 digs, while Graves and Smith contributed 12 apiece.
The Monarchs will now await word on their opponent in next week's USA South Tournament.
