FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - Maine-Presque Isle scored first with an early run in the first inning, but that would be it for the Owls as Methodist came back with eight unanswered runs to win 8-1.

Maine (1-4) took advantage of two walks to start the game before Ted Walker singled to score Shane Smith for the 1-0 lead. Methodist's Dylan Moore entered and retired the next three batters to get the Monarchs out of the inning and the offense took over. Matt Quick led off with a double down the left field line and moved to third on a balk. After Cody Molosky drew the walk and stole second, Brandon Thigpen walked and Trey Such doubled to score Quick and Molosky. Chris Power laid down the sacrifice bunt to score Thigpen and give Methodist the 3-1 lead.

The Monarchs added three runs in the fourth after Dustin Brown singled to center and stole second. David Lutz drew the walk and both runners advanced on a groundout. Quick singled to right field to score both runners and then stole second, third and home for the 6-1 advantage. In the sixth inning, Tyler Younger hit a huge triple to the gap in right center and Chris Power finished it off with a home run to left field. Methodist finished with eight runs on eight hits.

Quick went 2-for-4 at the plate with two RBI while Such and Power were 1-for-2 with two and three RBI respectively.

Moore earned the win in four innings pitched of relief. Michael Judge had the start while Reid Berry, Chris Barger, Ross Leggett, Josh Clarke and Greg Scassera each pitched one inning.

Methodist will be back in action on Thursday when they host Randolph-Macon College at 4 p.m.
