GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Methodist women's tennis team earned a 9-0 shutout over Guilford College on Saturday.
The Monarchs opened with the 3-0 lead after doubles.
Katherine Meindl and
Laura Baker won 8-2 at number one and
Dana Powell and
Rachel Purser combined to win 8-0 at number two.
Kelli Shelton and
Stacey Brooks earned the 8-3 victory at number three.
Meindl won 6-2, 6-1 at number one singles and Purser won 6-0, 6-1 at number two. Powell won 6-2, 6-2 at number three while Shelton didn't lose a game at number four winning 6-0, 6-0.
Lauryn Justice won 6-3, 6-2 at number five and
Emily Talley won 6-0, 6-1 at number six.
Methodist's second match of the day was postponed with Southern Virginia University, but the Monarchs will hit the road for matches in Orlando, Fla. and Hilton Head Island, S.C. this week.
