RALEIGH, N.C. - Methodist traveled to Raleigh Friday evening to make up a rained out match with Southern Virginia Univeristy from earlier this season. The Monarchs earned the 7-2 victory to move to 16-2 on the season after winning the last 11 straight.
Methodist led 2-1 after doubles.
Katherine Meindl and
Laura Baker won 8-3 at number one and
Lauryn Justice combined with
Sara Altman for the 8-2 win at number three.
Stacey Brooks and
Emily Talley lost 8-5 at number two.
The Monarchs secured the victory with five singles wins. Baker won 6-2, 6-2 at number one and
Dana Powell won 6-4, 6-3 at number two.
Kelli Shelton earned the 6-0, 6-2 win at number three.
Lauryn Justice battled at number four before falling in a tiebreaker 6-4, 5-7, 1-0 (9). Talley won 6-0, 6-0 at number five and
Stephanie Hunter won 6-0, 6-1 at number six.
Methodist will be back in action on Sunday when they host Shenandoah University at 11 a.m..
