KISSIMMEE, Fla. - The Methodist softball team took the 6-3 win over Mount Union in the first game of the day before dropping a 6-2 contest to Baldwin-Wallace.

The Monarchs scored a run apiece in the first, second and third innings to lead 3-0 early. Mount Union came back and tallied a run in the bottom of the third to cut the lead to two before tying the game in the fifth with two unearned runs. With the game still even heading into the seventh inning, Jordan Adams sparked a rally with a single and Mandi Wall moved her to second with a sacrifice. Katie Byrd had what would be the game-winning RBI single to score Adams and Krista Zentner kept the rally going with a single. Lindsay Tippett walked to load the bases and Ally Griffin singled to score Byrd and Zentner for the 6-3 advantage. Mount Union had one base runner in the bottom of the seventh, but the Monarchs recorded a double play to end the game and get the win.

Adams and Zentner both finished 3-for-4 in the game. Griffin went 2-for-3 and Kayla Malone picked up a win scattering five hits with one strikeout.

Baldwin-Wallace scored first in game two with a run in the top of the second. Methodist came back and tallied in the bottom of the inning after Marcy McKee drew the lead-off walk. McKee moved to second on a wild pitch and advanced to third on Megan Lee's single. Lee stole second and Sarah Stapleton singled through the left side to score McKee. Lee went on to score on an error to give Methodist the 2-1 lead. The Yellow Jackets regained the lead in the top of the third with two runs on three hits. Baldwin-Wallace added a run in the fourth and two in the seventh to ensure the 6-2 win. The Monarchs had bases loaded in the third and left two stranded in the fifth and couldn't counter as they took their fourth loss of the year.

The Monarchs had seven different players notch a hit apiece with Tippett, Griffin and McKee finishing 1-for-2. Jessica Farmer took the loss scattering 14 hits in seven innings.

Methodist will take Wednesday off before battling Albion and Bluffton on Thursday.
