DOVER, Del. - The Methodist baseball team came back to tie the game in the ninth and force extra innings, but it was Wesley who scored first in the bottom of the 10th to upend the Monarchs 3-2.

Methodist scored first with a run in the top of the second. Tyler Younger drew a walk and moved to second on Chris Power's sacrifice. Two wild pitches later and Younger scored the first run of the game.

Wesley rallied in the bottom of the fifth after the first two batters reached on hit by pitch and a walk. Pitcher Chris Perry got the next batter to pop up a bunt and struck out Matt Robles, but after loading the bases with a walk, Jon Carlson doubled down the left field line for two runs to score and give Wesley the 2-1 lead.

Neither team scored through the next three innings, but the Monarchs rallied in the top of the ninth. Trey Such singled through the left side to spark the rally while Brandon Thigpen reached on a fielder's choice while pinch runner Josh Tulledge was out at second. Younger moved Thigpen to second on a sacrifice and Power doubled to score Thigpen for the game-tying run.

Methodist came up empty in the top of the 10th leaving room for Wesley to rally. A single and double set up runners on second and third. The Monarchs opted to intentionally walk Carlson to load the bases and Morgan Rupp singled to score the game-winning run.

Power finished 2-for-3 with a RBI. Younger was 1-for-2 and Such went 1-for-4. Perry went 4.2 innings on the mound with nine strikeouts. Josh Ayers finished in relief with four strikeouts.

Methodist will be back in action on Tuesday when they wrap up the season at Mary Washington.
