Tom Inczauskis Named MU Coach of the Year

Head women's golf coach won third national title at the helm

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Thomas R. and Elizabeth E. McLean Foundation is pleased to announce the 2011-12 Methodist University Coach of the Year is head women's golf coach Tom Inczauskis.

The McLean Foundation "Coach of the Year" Award is in its fourth year Francie Barragan, Steve Conley and Duane Ross were the first recipients. The award recognizes the top head coach in the MU athletic department.

"Coach Tom Inczauskis has continued the level of excellence of our women's golf program with three consecutive national championships under his guidance, as well as numerous coach of the year honors," director of athletics Bob McEvoy said. "He is a most deserving recipient of the MU McLean Foundation Coach of the Year Award for 2011-12."

Since taking over for the 2009-10 season Inczauskis has helped the Methodist women win three team titles and an individual title by Paige Caldwell in 2011. Eight women have earned All-American honors 10 times and the team has racked up 22 victories. This past season the Monarchs won six tournaments and finished with a 314.3 stroke average paced by sophomore Kelsie Carralero's 77.9 average.

Inczauskis was selected based on criteria set forth by the McLean Foundation and voted on by a committee of Methodist University faculty and staff.

"I am very excited to be this year's recipient of the McLean Foundation Coach of the Year Award," Inczauskis said. "I am proud of what the team accomplished this year, both on and off the golf course. This award is not possible without our student-athletes.  The McLean Foundation award recognizes their success on the golf course, in classroom, and through community service projects." 
"Methodist has a great group of quality coaching candidates for this award each and every year," he added. "I am honored to be selected by the committee to be the fourth coach to receive the award and to join the past distinguished winners."

Inczauskis will receive his award and accompanying stipend at the Methodist University Fall Convocation on Sept. 10 at 11 am in Reeves Auditorium.
