Box Score FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- The Methodist women's soccer team dropped a 4-0 match to visiting Lynchburg College on Sunday afternoon at the Monarch Soccerplex.
The Monarchs slipped to 2-5-0 on the season, while the Hornets remained unbeaten at 6-0-1.
LC scored a pair of goals in each half and limited the Monarchs to just two shots the entire game in securing the shutout.
Angela Bosco opened the scoring for the Hornets with an unassisted tally at the 13:39 mark and soon after Lynchburg increased its lead to 2-0 as Morgan Singer scored off a feed from Shelley Hoath at the 15:40 mark.
The Hornets struck quickly in the second half, netting their third goal of the match just 6:05 into the second period as Rachel Sadowski headed in a corner kick off the foot Nikki Rhodes.
Bosco capped the scoring off an assist from Grace Withers at the 72:46 mark.
Lynchburg held a 25-2 edge in shots on the day and a 10-1 advantage in corner kicks. Junior
Sarah Hayden played all 90:00 in goal for the Monarchs and made eight saves. Audrey Moore started in goal and played the opening 75:11 for the Hornets, making one save. Karsen Schottleutner played the final 14:49 and made one save as well.
The women return to the pitch on Wednesday when they host Chowan at 3:00 pm.
