Box Score LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. - Playing in its first game in over a week, the Methodist men's soccer team tied host Covenant, 2-2, in double overtime on Friday evening.
The Monarchs (5-5-2, 3-1-1 USA South) led twice during the course of this conference matchup. In the early going, they held a 1-0 edge courtesy of
Eric McGinnis' successful penalty kick in the 15th minute and carried that advantage into halftime.
The Scots (7-4-2, 2-2-1 USA South) knotted things up in 49th minute as Joel Friesen headed in a cross from Barrett Schmidt, evening the score at 1-1. MU's McGinnis would find the back of the net yet again at the 51:39 mark, putting Methodist ahead, 2-1. The goal, McGinnis' sixth in as many games, came on an assist by
Mike Ilodigwe. Less than 10 minutes later, Covenant answered as Snoopy Davidson kicked in a pass from Friesen, tying up the contest, 2-2, in the 60th minute.

Nick Martens finished the night with three saves to his credit. Covenant's Shuler Polk also made three saves.
The Monarchs will return to action on Sunday at Maryville. This USA South matchup is set to start at 2:00 pm.
