Box Score MARYVILLE, Tenn. - The Methodist men's soccer team upended host Maryville, 1-0, on Sunday afternoon. The victory made head coach Justin Terrranova the winningest coach in MU's 47-year history, surpassing Alan Dawson's (1987-1995) record of 129 wins. Terranova's career record now stands at 130-84-16.
Following a scoreless first half, the Monarchs (6-5-2, 4-1-1 USA South) tallied the lone score of the day as
Jake Jubin took a pass from
Eric McGinnis and converted at the 78:52 mark, his first goal of the season.
Methodist's
Nick Martens earned the victory in goal, making three saves on the way to his fifth shutout overall and fourth in the team's past seven games. Maryville goalkeeper Ben Munger took the loss and stopped six shots.

Terranova began his tenure as his alma mater's head coach in the fall of 2002. In 2012, the team claimed its first USA South Tournament title and also made the program's first NCAA Division III tournament appearance in 17 years.

A graduate of then-Methodist College, Terranova played goalkeeper for the Monarchs (1992-1995), suiting up for the 1995 squad that finished as the NCAA Division III runner-up. He earned All-USA South honors all four seasons and remains the program's career leader with 37 shutouts and a 0.67 goals against average.
Methodist will return to the pitch in a neutral site game in Greer, S.C., against Berry College on Sunday at 3:00 pm.
