Box Score FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The MU men's soccer team won a double-overtime thriller against visiting N.C. Wesleyan, 2-1, on Wednesday evening.

With less than five minutes remaining in the game, Methodist's Mike Ilodigwe booted in the game-winning goal after Sean MacDonald's header was punched away by N.C. Wesleyan goalkeeper Drew Thompson.

Following a scoreless first half, MU (5-5-1, 3-1-0 USA South) found the back of the net in the 61st minute as David Korneliusson's free kick from the nearside corner was headed in by MacDonald. The Monarchs' 1-0 did not last long, however, as the Battling Bishops' (3-5-1, 2-1-0) Malick Chune headed in a scoring tally of his own at the 65:31 mark off a pass from Leifur Kristjansson, making it a 1-1 game and ultimately forcing overtime.

Methodist goalkeeper Nick Martens (5-5-1) earned the win, making four saves. N.C. Wesleyan's Thompson (3-5-1) took the loss, stopping seven stops.

Methodist will return to play next against conference opponent Covenant on Oct. 11. The matchup will take place in Lookout Mountain, Ga., at 7:00 pm.
