Box Score FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Methodist men's soccer team scored the game's first five goals, cruising to a 6-1 victory against visiting LaGrange on Saturday afternoon.
Just under a minute into the action,
Nahom Hargwoin headed in a ball for the opening score, putting MU up, 1-0. Hargwoin came back for more, adding another goal at the 22:29 mark to up the Monarchs' lead to 2-0, which remained the score at halftime.
In the second half, Methodist struck early yet again, this time on an
Eric McGinnis tally only 16 seconds into play, making it a three-goal margin.
Seth Harrison joined the scoring parade with a goal at the 48:34 mark, widening the gap to 4-0. Less than two minutes down the line,
Jake Jubin tacked on a score of his own, giving MU a commanding 5-0 advantage.
LaGrange (2-11-1, 0-7-0 USA South) tallied its lone score of the day when Keith Sims found the back of the net at the 52:46 mark. To cap the day's offense, Methodist's (7-6-1, 5-1-0 USA South)
Jacob Tello notched an unassisted goal with less than six minutes left in the game.

Nick Martens returned to the win column, making a single save. LaGrange's Donnie Palmer took the loss after stopping five shots.
Methodist will return to play Huntingdon tomorrow with the opening kickoff scheduled for 3:30 pm.
