Box Score LAGRANGE, Ga. -- James Hall's RBI single in the bottom of the 10th inning lifted LaGrange to a 5-4 win over the Methodist baseball team on Saturday afternoon.

The Monarchs (2-2, 0-2 USA South) had taken a 4-2 lead in the seventh inning when Brandon Thigpen came through with a two-run double that broke a 2-2 tie. The Panthers (2-1, 2-0 USA South) halved their deficit in the bottom of the frame on a Cody Muren run-scoring single that made it 4-3.

The Panthers then tied the game a 4-4 in the bottom of the eighth inning on Blake Schuck's RBI single that knotted the game at 4-4.

Methodist had a quality scoring chance in the top of the ninth inning when Steven Kirby drew a leadoff walk and made it to second with nobody out. However, he was picked off, and after Travis Johnson drew a walk of his own, the Monarchs hit into a inning-ending double play.

In the 10th, the Panthers scored the game-winning run after the Panthers' first two batters reached via error. After Schuck struck out swinging, both runners moved up 90 feet on a wild pitch, which allowed the Monarchs to intentionally walk Anthony Ianetta to set up the double play. But Hall foiled those plans with his game-winning single to left.

Daniel Royer, who relieved starter Michael Inman, took the loss. He allowed the one run on one hit and two walks with three strikeouts in 2.0 innings. Inman went 7.1 innings, surrendering four runs on 10 hits and three walks with a strikeout.

Schuck earned the win with a scoreless 10th inning. He surrendered a pair of hits and struck out three. Robby Williams started and went 5.1 innings, giving up two runs (1 ER) on four hits and a walk with three punchouts.

Tyler Younger, Chris Power and Will Sutton all finished 2-for-5 for the Monarchs. Thigpen was 1-for-3 with a pair of walks and two runs scored.

Schuck was 3-for-5 with a pair of runs driven in with a run scored for LaGrange. Kyle Nerbonne was 2-for-4 with a pair of runs scored. Hall and Muren both had two hits in five at-bats.

The two teams will wrap up their three-game set tomorrow beginning at 1:00 pm.
