ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. -- The top-seeded Methodist women's tennis team cruised to a 9-0 win over No. 8 William Peace on Friday afternoon in the first round of the USA South Tournament.
The Monarchs raced out to a 3-0 advantage after doubles, including an 8-0 win at No. 3 by
Emily Talley and
Stephanie Hunter. In singles, MU dropped just one game on the day, posting 6-0, 6-0 wins at Nos. 1 and 3. The Nos. 3 through 6 six singles positions played a an 8-point super set to finish out the competition.
Methodist, looking to added the USA South Conference Tournament title to the regular season crown is already won, will now take on the winner of No. 4 Piedmont and No. 5 Maryville on Saturday at 2:00 pm on the campus of N.C. Wesleyan.
