ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. – The Methodist men's soccer team suffered its second loss of the 2014 campaign this Wednesday, falling to N.C. Wesleyan, 3-1.
After a scoreless first half, the Battling Bishops (7-4-1, 3-1-0) struck early in the second half with a Charles Chapin goal, assisted by Samba Cande, in the 47
th minute.
Methodist (6-2-1, 1-2-0) responded in the 68
th minute when
Chris Ryan netted his second goal of the season, unassisted, tying the match at 1-1.
The Bishops regained their lead, 2-1, in the 81
st minute when Sebastian Wiiala found the back of the net off a pass from Matt Moore.
Six minutes later, N.C. Wesleyan notched the final score of the match, as Moore took a pass from Julius Orkasson and added a scoring tally of his own in the 87
th minute.
N.C. Wesleyan goalkeeper Jesper Olsson (7-4-1) earned the win, making two saves. MU's
Alex Rabone (6-2-1) will return to Fayetteville with the loss, making four saves on the day.
Methodist will return to the Monarch Soccerplex this Saurday, taking on the William Peace Pacers. The match is scheduled to begin at 2 pm.
