FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Methodist men's soccer team came out with yet another shutout Saturday afternoon after besting William Peace, 2-0, at the Monarch Soccerplex.
With the win, MU moves to 7-2-1 on the overall season, and 2-2-0 in the USA South, as WPU falls to 3-7-0 overall and 1-5-0 in conference play.
The Monarchs put their lead to 1-0 in the 19th minute as
Chris Ryan took a pass from
Seth Harrison, putting it past Pacers' goalkeeper Connor Johnston, netting his third goal of the 2014 season.
MU tallied a second and final goal in the first half, as
David Korneliusson found the back of the net in the 41st minute, putting the Monarchs at a 2-0 advantage.
Methodist's offense showed their strength, posting a 24-4 edge in shots, with 14 on frame to the Pacers' zero.
Alex Rabone improves his record to 7-2-1 after not being forced to make any saves on the day. Despite his 12 total saves, Johnston will be handed the loss, falling to 3-7-0 on the season.
Methodist will host the Covenant Scots next Friday. Game action will be underway at 2:00 pm.
