Box Score FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- The Methodist men's soccer team used Stefan Cyvin's eighth goal of the season to defeat visiting Covenant, 1-0, on Friday afternoon at the Monarch Soccerplex.
 
The Monarchs (8-2-1; 3-2-0) added their seventh shutout of the 2014 season as Cyvin scored off a pass from David Korneliussion at the 58:39 mark, accounting for the only goal in this USA South matchup.
 
MU edged CC (7-4-2; 3-1-1) in terms of shots, 10-3, with four on frame to the Scots' two.
 
Methodist goalkeeper Alex Rabone earned the win, moving to 8-2-1 on the season, making two saves. CC's Daniel Kubin will drop to 7-4-2 overall, after making three saves on the day.
 
The Monarchs will return to action at the Monarch Soccerplex on Sunday at 1:00 pm as they take on the Scots of Maryville.
