RALEIGH, N.C. -- Methodist's volleyball team split a pair of conference matches at Meredith College on Saturday afternoon. MU fell, 3-2, to LaGrange, and defeated Huntingdon, 3-1.

In the loss to the Panthers, MU (11-12, 6-4 USA South) took an early 1-0 lead with a dominating 25-7 win in the first set. LaGrange came back and took set two, 25-15, before the Monarchs wrestled away the lead with a 25-22 win in set three. LaGrange sealed the win with a 25-21 lead in set four and a 15-11 win in set five.

Cassidy hayes poured in 20 kills in the loss to lead the Monarch offense.
Breanna Graham added a career-high 13 kills, and
Grace Crawford chipped in 11.
Maggie Harris had 44 assists and a pair of service aces.
Chyenne Pump,
Reagan Holloway and
Taylar Stafford all had two service aces as well.

Stafford led the defense with 15 digs, and Pump and Harris each had 10.
Ryann Appleby, Hayes and Pump each recorded three blocks.

For LaGrange, Maggie Ivestar had 12 kills and Katie Chancellor had 11. Mary Schmitz had 35 assists and 16 digs. Aspen Coggins led the Panthers with 17 digs, and Chancellor had seven total blocks.

In its win over Huntingdon, Methodist posted a 25-23 win in set one and a 25-20 win in set two. After dropping the third, 25-21, the Monarchs put the match away with a 25-22 win in the fourth set.

Hayes continued her strong day with 21 kills and a robust hitting percentage of .405. Crawford added 14 kills and Harris chipped in 46 assists. Hayes also posted a team-best 14 digs and added a solo block.

Jordyn Litchfield each had nine digs.

For Huntingdon, Kalen Morgan posted 12 kills, and Brittany Frost had seven. Cora Murchison and Lexi Rangel notched 19 and 15 assists, respectively. Lauren Condon led the team with 14 digs, and Bobie Wilson had 11.

Methodist is back in action on Wednesday at Ferrum beginning at 7:00 pm.
