Methodist Volleyball Drops a Pair of Matches at Covenant

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. -- Methodist's volleyball team dropped a pair of matches at Covenant College on Saturday afternoon, falling, 3-0, Maryville, and, 3-1, to Covenant.
 
Maryville (19-8, 12-0 USA South) swept the Monarchs (13-16, 8-8 USA South) by scores of 25-20, 25-7, 25-18, while Covenant prevailed 25-14, 19-25, 25-21, 26-24.
 
In the opener, Maryville limited MU to just a .010 hitting percentage as a team, as Ryann Appleby led the Monarchs with six kills. Taylar Stafford added five kills, and Breanna Graham chipped in four. Maggie Harris had 15 assists. On the defensive side, Karly Klimas had 11 digs, and Chyenne Pump added 10 digs.
 
For Maryville, Kelsey Handel had 10 kills, and Sophia del Campo and Mary Kate White had eight and seven, respectively. Morgan Hall totaled 21 assists to go with three service aces and a team-high 10 digs. Mallory Bonee had nine digs, and Madison Coker came up with four blocks.
 
In the loss to Covenant, Appleby and Cassidy Hayes each had a team-high 13 kills, while Pump and Graham chipped in seven apiece. Harris totaled 43 assists, and two service aces to go with 18 digs. Kilmas once again led the team in digs with 22, and Hayes had 18 as well.
 
Covenant was led by Schuyler Moore, who had 14 kills, and Cora Schroeder, who added 13. Moore also had 13 assists, and Chloe Carlson had a pair of service aces. Carlson also led the defense with 23 digs, and Ginny Moore and Schuyler Moore chipped in 11 and 10, respectively. 
 
The Monarchs are back in action on Wednesday when they host N.C. Wesleyan at 7:00 pm.
