FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- The Methodist volleyball team dropped a back-and-forth match to N.C. Wesleyan, 3-2, at the Riddle Center on Wednesday evening.

The Monarchs (13-17, 8-9 USA South) fell 20-25, 26-24, 32-30, 19-25, 15-13 to the Battling Bishops (7-19, 6-11 USA South) in what proved to be a thrilling match.

Cassidy Hayes led the Monarchs with 28 kills on 80 attempts, and completed a double-double by picking up 11 digs.
Taylar Stafford had 12 kills and a pair of service aces, and
Ryann Appleby totaled nine kills.
Maggie Harris notched 60 assists, the second time this season she has eclipsed 60 assists in a match, to go with 11 digs.

Karly Klimas posted 29 digs with a pair of service aces, and
Chyenne Pump totaled 12.

For NCWC, Samantha Morton had 14 kills, Tori Stewart had 11 and Emily McLain 10. Kayla White led the way with a team-high 27 assists, and Ayla Brewer had 18. Christina Huber had a match-high 38 digs.

Stewart also had 21 digs and nine blocks, part of the Bishops 17 on the night. McLain also had nine blocks, including three solo efforts, and Morton had seven.

Methodist is back in action on Saturday in Raleigh where they will take on Mary Baldwin at 12:00 pm and Greensboro at 2:00 pm.
