RALEIGH, N.C. -- Methodist's volleyball team won a pair of USA South matches at Meredith College on Saturday afternoon to wrap up regular-season play. The Monarchs defeated Mary Baldwin, 3-0, and Greensboro, 3-1.

Methodist (15-17, 10-9 USA South) opened its win over MBC with a 25-16 win, before blowing the Fighting Squirrels (1-29, 1-18) out, 25-3, in the second set and 25-10 in the third set.

Cassidy Hayes led the Monarchs with 11 kills and MU hit .338 as a team.
Ryann Appleby had seven kills with a .636 hitting percentage, and
Taylar Stafford and
Chyenne Pump had six kills apiece. Pump also registered a match-high seven service aces.
Maggie Harris posted 27 assists and three service aces.
Karly Klimas had 11 digs for Methodist, and Hayes added seven.

In the win over Greensboro (16-15, 8-11 USA South) Methodist took the first two sets, 25-18, 25-21, before the Pride rallied to take the third, 25-21. The Monarchs put the win away with a 25-15 win in the fourth.

Stafford and Pump led a balanced offensive effort with 11 kills, and two service aces apiece. Hayes had nine kills, and
Breanna Graham added eight. Harris registered 39 assists.

The defense was tested a little more in the second match as Klimas had 26 digs,
Reagan Holloway and Hayes had 16 apiece, and Pump added 10.Hayes also had a team-high four blocks.

The Monarchs, who earned the No. 3 seed in the North Division, will play Covenant, the No. 2 seed in the South Division, in the quarterfinal round of the USA South Tournament on Friday at 7:00 pm at Patrick Henry Community College in Martinsville, Va.
