FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- The Methodist women's tennis team defeated visiting Covenant, 8-1, on Friday afternoon at the Monarch Tennis Courts.
Against the Scots (8-5), the Monarchs (11-2) swept the doubles action to begin the day with a 3-0 lead.
Abigail Randolph and
Emily Talley won against Lindsay Geving and Gracie Smith, 8-0, at No. 2, and
Linsey Gabris and
Sam Munze were victorious over Ellen Kirkpatrick and Molly Peele, 8-0.
In singles play, Methodist won 5-of-6 matches.
Laura Baker defeated Claire Luger, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 1, and
Isabella Graf won against Sarah Carter, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 2. Randolph topped Smith, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 3, and Munze topped Geving at No. 4, 6-1, 6-1. Talley defeated Kirkpatrick, 6-4, 6-1, at No. 5
The Monarchs host Maryville and Randolph-Macon tomorrow afternoon at 12:30 and 4:00 pm, respectively.
