FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- The Methodist women's tennis team claimed a pair of victories over Maryville and Randolph-Macon on Saturday afternoon at the Monarch Tennis Courts. Game scores were 9-0 and 8-1, respectively.
 
To start the day's action, the Monarchs moved past the visiting Scots (4-5) by a 9-0 margin. Laura Baker claimed a clean sweep of Kelly Stephens at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-0, and Hillary Petruska teamed up with Sam Munze at No. 3 doubles to defeat Caitlyn Jennings and Katie Stephens, 8-1.
 
Later the afternoon, Methodist (13-2) topped the Yellow Jackets (5-3) by a final score of 8-1. Abigail Randolph won against Toni McDonald at No. 3 singles, 6-1, 6-1, and Emily Talley added a win at No. 5 versus Molly Jesseman, 6-0, 6-1. Linsey Gabris and Petruska won in a tiebreaker at No. 3 doubles against Jesseman and Melissa Tomlin, 9-8 (7-4).
 
Up next for the Monarchs will be a road match at William Peace on Wednesday afternoon. The action is set for 3:00 pm in Raleigh, N.C.
