Box Score 2 CLERMONT, Fla. -- The Methodist softball team claimed a victory, 4-0, over Immaculata to start off Wednesday afternoon and later lost to Aurora, 4-2.

Locked in a scoreless game through six innings, the Monarchs scored all four of the contest's runs in the top of the seventh.

Sarah Stapleton hit a one-out single, and
Heather Williams advanced her to second with a sacrifice bunt. After Stapleton moved up to third on a passed ball,
Lindsay Tippett drove her in with a two-out RBI single.
Ally Griffin would later plate another run with a run-scoring single, and
Kelsey Harrington drove in two on a single.

Methodist starting pitcher
Brittany Miller would retire the Mighty Macs (2-3) in order to close out a complete-game, three-hit shutout. She struck out one.

Griffin, Harrington, Stapleton and Tippett had two base hits apiece for the Monarchs.

Immaculata pitcher Meagan Fitzgerald took the loss as she pitched the full seven innings. She gave up ten hits, four runs and one walk and struck out six.

To conclude the day's action, Methodist (2-10) lost to Aurora University (2-4), 4-2.

The Monarchs are set to close out their scheduled slate in the Sunshine State tomorrow morning. They will play Regis and Rose-Hulman at 9:00 and 11:00 am, respectively.
