ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. -- The top-seeded Methodist women's tennis claimed its fifth USA South Tournament championship in as many springs as it defeated No. 2 seed Meredith, 7-2, on Sunday morning.
 
The Monarchs (22-2) clinched their fifth straight bid to the NCAA Division III National Tournament when Sam Munze won at No. 4 singles, 6-2, 6-4, against the Avenging Angels' (13-4) Cailin Goff.
 
Laura Baker earned USA South Tournament MVP honors for her efforts. She teamed with Isabella Graf to best Caroline Hunt and Mary Lawrence Newton at No. 1 doubles, 8-3, and later Baker topped Puja Patel at No. 1 singles, 6-4, 6-1. Also in doubles play, Abigail Randolph and Emily Talley defeated Patel and Goff, 9-8 (7-4), at No. 2, and Stephanie Hunter and Munze won at No. 3 versus Mack Thompson and Taylor Brennan, 8-4.
 
Later in the singles matches, Abigail Randolph defeated Newton, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 3, and Hunter was victorious over Thompson, 6-0, 6-3, at No. 6.
 
Representing Methodist on the All-Tournament Team were Baker, Graf, Munze and Randolph.
