Box Score NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- The Methodist men's soccer team remained unbeaten in 2014 with a 1-1 (2OT) draw at No. 11 Christopher Newport on Wednesday night.

The Monarchs rallied from a 1-0 deficit to move to 5-0-1 on the season while the 11th-ranked Captains now stand at 5-1-1 on the season.

Ryan Balfour staked the Captains to an early 1-0 lead when he scored off a feed from Jalon Brown just six minutes into the contest. CNU kept up the offensive pressure, logging 10 shots in the first half to just two for the Monarchs, but MU's
Alex Rabone was up to the task and made five save in the opening 45 minutes to keep it a 1-0 game at the half.

In the second half,
Eirik Nordseth scored the equalizer off a set piece in the 55th minute as MU pulled even at 1-1. Shots were even at 5-5 in the second half.

As the game moved to extra time, the Captains remained the aggressor, outshooting MU, 4-0, over the two overtime periods, but Rabone was solid in net and made two more saves. He finished with eight saves on the night. Nolan Mann played the entire game in net for CNU and made one save.

The Monarchs will return to the pitch on Sunday at Greensboro beginning at 1:00 pm.
