MU Volleyball Wraps Up Perfect Homestand with 3-1 Wins Over Randolph, Wesley

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- The Methodist volleyball team wrapped up a perfect, 7-0, homestand with 3-1 wins over Randolph College and Wesley College on Saturday evening in the Riddle Center.
 
Methodist ran its record to 14-6 on the season with a 22-25, 25-8, 25-14, 25-12 win over Randolph (4-18) and a 25-18, 22-25, 25-14, 25-21 decision over Wesley (11-9).
 
For different Monarchs registered at least 10 kills in the win over Randolph, including 13 from Jordan Tew. Ashley Beardsley added 12, and both Cassidy Hayes and Brittany Ter Meer had 11. Tew also had four service aces, while Hayes and Karly Klimas each had a pair. Maggie Harris led the team with 41 assists, while the defense was pace by Klimas' 20 digs. Alyssa Coffey had 11 digs, and Ter Meer led the team with four blocks.
 
Autumn Troxell led the WildCats with 13 kills, and Brooks Gillerlain had 22 assists to lead the offense. Elisabeth Price had 13 digs on defense, and Cassie Maddox added nine.
 
Against Wesley, Hayes racked up 22 kills and hit .386 as she upped her percentage on the season to .309, good for third in the conference. Tew and Beardsley each added 13 kills, and Ter Meer chipped in seven. Harris had 57 assists, while Coffey came up with a trio of service aces.
 
Defensively, Klimas led the way once again with 16 digs, Tew had 14, Reagan Holloway had 12, and Coffey added 11. Ter Meer, Hayes and Tew all had a pair of blocks as well.
 
Tionne Graves-Brown led Wesley with 18 kills and was the only player in double figures. Arnelle Akakpo and Tania Rounds each had five. Beth Schlecker notched 31 assists. Graves-Brown also led the defense with 17 digs, Meghan Marshall added 12 and Rounds had a pair of solo blocks.
 
The Monarchs next play at Averett on Wednesday beginning at 7:00 pm.
