MU Volleyball Sweeps William Peace, 3-0

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- The Methodist volleyball team closed out the home portion of its schedule with a 3-0 win over William Peace on Wednesday night in the Riddle Center.
 
The Monarchs improved to 16-8 on the year (9-6 USA South) and closed out the year with a home record of 9-1. William Peace dropped to 17-10 on the season and 9-5 in the USA South.
 
The Green and Gold gutted out a 25-21, 28-26, 25-21 sweep to avenge an earlier loss to the Pacers.
 
Jordan Tew led the Monarchs with 15 kills and hit .393 for the night. She added nine digs and three service aces. Cassidy Hayes added nine kills and Ashley Beardsley had eight. Maggie Harris posted 37 assists and 12 digs, while Karly Klimas led all players with 18 digs.
 
Laura Bland led William Peace with 14 kills, and Tempestt Frazier added eight. Liana Solomon and Kennedey Paine split the setting duties and had 20 and 14 assists, respectively. Carson Williams registered 13 digs, Solomon had 11, and Maddie Irvin added 10.
 
Before the match, the Monarchs paid tribute to their lone senior Klimas. Klimas will leave the program as the all-time leader in digs, while also holding the single-match and single-season dig records.
 
Methodist is back in action this weekend at Meredith for a tri-match beginning at 1:00 pm.
