Methodist Volleyball Holds Off N.C. Wesleyan, 3-2

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. -- Jordan Tew had a double-double of 16 kills and 16 digs, and Cassidy Hayes poured in 22 kills as the Methodist volleyball team won for the 12th time in its last 14 matches with a 3-2 win at N.C. Wesleyan on Wednesday night.
 
The Monarchs improved to 19-8 on the season and 11-6 in the USA South with a 21-25, 25-16, 25-10, 20-25, 15-10 win over the Battling Bishops (9-17, 5-12 USA South).
 
Hayes' 22 kills came with a .450 hitting percentage and she added a pair of blocks. Brittany Ter Meer had 11 kills and Maggie Harris contributed 56 assists. Alyssa Coffey had four service aces on the night.
 
Defensively, Karly Klimas led the defense with 19 digs, and Coffey added 11, while Harris chipped in 10.
 
Tori Stewart paced the Bishops with 19 kills. Evie Hunter and Samantha Hunter had nine apiece. Christina Huber led all players with 27 digs. Emily McLain had four digs on the night, and Ayla Brewer had 38 assists and 14 digs.
 
The Monarchs return to action this weekend in Raleigh when they take on Maryville beginning at 12:00 pm.
