NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- The Methodist women's tennis team got its second win of the season by way of an 8-1 win over Sweet Briar on Friday night.

For the second straight day, Methodist emerged victorious in all three doubles matches. In the match at No. 1 doubles, the MU tandem of Isabella Graf and Sam Munze topped Sweet Briar's AJ Lukanuski and Gina Rutledge, 8-2. No. 2 doubles saw Riley Zopp, paired with Emily Talley, best Anna Colvin and Samantha Yew, 8-0, and at the third doubles spot, Linsey Gabris and Vatrice Williams defeated Baylee Worth and Adwoa Sika, 8-0.

In singles action, the Monarchs claimed all but one of the matches. At No. 2 singles, Davi Barbour came out on top after three sets, besting Lukanuski 6-4, 4-6, 10-6. Stephanie Hunter defeated Rutledge 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 singles and Zopp toppled Colvin, 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4. Williams bested Yew at No. 5, 6-0, 6-0 and Gabris topped Sika 6-0, 6-1 at No. 6.

Methodist continues action in Newport News, Va. on Sunday as they take on the host team, Christopher Newport, starting at 10 am.
