LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. – The Methodist women's tennis team earned a 8-1 victory over host Covenant College on Friday afternoon. With the win, MU improves to 9-5 (5-1 USAS) while Covenant drops to 7-3 (4-1 USAS).
 
The Monarchs picked up two points in doubles play. At No. 1, Isabella Graf teamed up with Sam Munze to defeat Gretchen Rowe and Claire Luger, 8-2 and in the second doubles matchup, Abigail Randolph and teammate Vatrice Williams bested Annie Deluca and Lindsay Geving, 8-4.
 
Methodist took all six singles matches. At No. 1, Graf topped Rowe, 6-1, 6-2, and at No. 2, Munze won, 6-0, 6-2, over Luger. In the third matchup, Randolph defeated Deluca, 6-2, 6-1, and at No. 4, Davi Barbour earned a 6-1, 6-4, win over Gracie Smith, 6-1, 6-4. Stephanie Hunter came out on the winning end of a 6-2, 6-3 matchup against Geving at No. 5 and Riley Zopp bested Jennie Spielman, 6-3, 6-2, at No. 6.
 
MU is back in action at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday when they travel to Maryville, Tenn. to compete against Maryville.
