FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Methodist women's tennis team defeated USA South foe Greensboro College 9-0 today at the Gene Clayton Tennis Center.
Methodist gained an early 3-0 lead, sweeping Greensboro in the doubles play. In the first matchup,
Linsey Gabris and
Vatrice Williams defeated Ashley Spivey and Kathryn Roper, 8-2, and at No. 2
Audrey Greeson and
Raya Alher topped Margaret Dubey and Molly O'Keefe, 8-2. MU won the third doubles match by default.
The Monarchs blanked Greensboro 6-0, 6-0 in all four singles matches, and automatically won two by default.
Abigail Randolph downed Spivey in the No. 1 line, and at No. 2,
Davi Barbour cruised past Dubey. In the No. 3 singles matchup,
Stephanie Hunter bested O'Keefe and
Riley Zopp dispatched Roper.
The Monarchs travel to Orlando, Fla. next week for a spring break tournament. MU's first match is against McMurry University on Tuesday at 1:00 pm.
