FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- The Methodist men's soccer team dropped its first game of the Soccer Kicks Cancer MU Invitational on Saturday afternoon to John Carroll College, 3-1.

After a scoreless first half, the Blue Streaks (3-1-1) were the first to make it on the board, scoring off a penalty kick in the 51st minute to go ahead, 1-0.

Methodist (2-2-1) quickly answered with their own penalty-kick tally, as
Eirik Nordseth sent one past JCC's starting goalkeeper Liam McIntosh to knot things up at 1-1 in the 53rd minute.

John Carroll pushed its lead to 2-1 with an unassisted goal by Dalton Browsky in the 76th minute and then to 3-1 with a Jesse Marinaro goal three minutes later.

Overall, the Monarchs were outshot 14-7 and 8-3 in shots on frame.

McIntosh was awarded the win after making two saves and allowing one goal and Rabone took the loss, making five saves.

The Monarchs are back in action on Sunday as they close out the invitational with a 1:00 pm match against Marymount.
