FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- The Methodist men's soccer team fell to the No. 7 Christopher Newport Captains, 2-0, Wednesday night at the Methodist University Soccer Stadium. With the win, the Captains improve their unbeaten season to 5-0-1 while the Monarchs fall to 2-4-1 on the overall season.
 
The Captains scored their first goal in the 34th minute when Ryan Balfour converted a Sebastian Abrigo free kick, heading in the ball for a 1-0 advantage.
 
Soon after, Girma Baker increased the visitor's lead to 2-0 in the 40th minute, chipping the ball over goalkeeper Alex Rabone to find an open net.

Overall, the Monarchs were outshot 8-4 and 4-2 in shots on frame.
 
Nolan Mann advanced his record to 5-0-1 after 90 minutes in goal and making two saves. Methodist utilized two goalkeepers in Wednesday night's match. Rabone started and made two saves with two goals allowed and Johnathan Moore entered at the start of the second frame and was not pressured to make any saves.
 
The Monarchs will begin league play as it travels to take on Maryville on Saturday. Game action will be underway at 1:00 pm.
