Jordan Tew and
Cassidy Hayes combined for 27 kills and hit .296 as the Methodist volleyball team swept N.C. Wesleyan, 3-0, on Wednesday night at the Riddle Center.

Tew had a match-high 15 kills on 41 swings, and Hayes added 12 kills, with just one error, on 30 attempts as the Monarchs improved to 8-6 on the season and 3-4 in the USA South. The Battling Bishops fell to 4-10 overall and 1-6 in the league.

Methodist won the first set, 25-19, and took sets two and three by the same 25-19 score line. The Monarchs fell behind, 1-0, in every set but followed that with an 11-3 run in the first set, a 9-3 run in the second set, and a 6-2 run in the third, to seize control of each frame in the win.

In addition to Tew and Hayes' offensive performances,
Ashley Beardsley chipped in eight kills and
Brittany Ter Meer had five. Maggie Hayes led the team with 36 assists. On the defensive side,
Reagan Holloway had a match-high 21 digs, and Tew completed a double-double with 15.
Karly Klimas added 14 digs to push her career total to 1,620. She is now 148 digs away from breaking the MU career record held by Jordan Grady '10.

Harris and Hayes each had a pair of blocks, and
Alyssa Coffey chipped in nine digs.

For N.C. Wesleyan, Evie Hunter had eight kills, and Tori Stewart had six kills and a team-best 16 digs. Samantha Morton added five kills, Christina Huber had 15 digs and Morton had three total blocks.

Methodist hosts a quad match on Saturday. MU's first opponent is Greensboro at 10:00 am, followed by a 4:00 pm match with Mary Baldwin.
