Box Score BEAVER FALLS, Pa. -- The Methodist men's soccer team improved to 2-0 on Friday afternoon as
Eirik Nordseth's three goals led the Monarchs to a 3-2 victory over Grove City College.

Nordseth struck early in the first half, scoring on a pass from
Tyler Ursuy at the 6:06 mark, putting the Monarchs (2-0) up 1-0.

The Wolverines (1-1) tied things up, 1-1, at 31:35 mark as Seth Loew found the back of the net on a feed from Nate Curry, but ten minutes into the second half Nordseth registered his second goal of the night, unassisted, to give the Monarchs back the lead at 2-1.

Nordseth's last goal of the night happened at the 83:22 mark as he pushed the Monarchs ahead, 3-1, on a penalty kick.

The Wolverines attempted a comeback with less than three minutes left in the match, coming within one goal of the Monarchs. Stephen Betteridge capitalized on pass from Frank Hueber to bring the score to 3-2, but a strong Monarch defense would hold GCC from tying the game once more.

Overall, MU outshot Grove City, 12-11, with nine shots on frame to the Wolverine's eight.

Alex Rabone (2-0) picked up his second win of 2015, spending all 90:00 in goal and making six saves with two goals allowed. The loss was handed to Ben Weaver (1-1), who also made six saves, and allowed three goals.

The Monarchs will play again on Saturday against Geneva College at 4:00 pm.
