Methodist Volleyball Falls to Agnes Scott, Piedmont

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The Methodist volleyball team dropped a pair of conference matches at Greensboro College on Saturday afternoon. MU fell to Agnes Scott, 3-2, and to Piedmont, 3-0.
 
The Monarchs could not close out the Scotties after taking a 2-0 lead, ultimately falling 21-25, 22-25, 25-22, 25-18, 18-16. MU then lost to Piedmont, 26-24, 25-20, 25-18.
 
Brittany Ter Meer and Cassidy Hayes notched 22 and 21 kills, respectively, in the loss to Agnes Scott. Ter Meer hit .488 for the match, Hayes hit .408 and the duo had 43 of MU's 64 kills. Maggie Harris had 53 assists and 16 digs to go with a pair of service aces.
 
Annabelle Ronelli had 22 digs to lead MU, and Autumn Elder chipped in 17. Ter Meer also had six total blocks, while Hayes added four.
 
Paige Heck led Agnes Scott with 22 kills, while Anna Tomkins and Bella Kammerer split the setting duties and came up with 27 assists apiece. Haley Payne had 29 digs and Tomkins added 17.
 
Against Piedmont, Hayes had 13 kills with a hitting percentage of .308, but was the lone Monarch to reach double figures in kills. Harris had 25 assists and 12 digs, while Ronelli added 12 digs as well.
 
Kaitlyn Loesel led the Lions with 10 kills, and Amanda Trotter and Anna Wright each had eight. Lainey Choiniere racked up 29 assists, and Haley Hixon led the way with 16 digs.
 
The Monarchs are back on the court Sunday when they take on Huntingdon and LaGrange beginning at 12 pm.
