FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Methodist men's soccer team fell to Maryville, 2-1, on Senior Day at the Monarch Soccerplex on Saturday afternoon.
With the result, the Monarchs fall to 6-7-1 on the year with a 4-4 mark in conference play. Meanwhile, the Scots improve to 15-2 overall behind a 9-1 league record and have won 11-straight games.
Maryville scored first at the 12:51 mark when Bret Thomas played a cross into the box and Andrew Sullivan was able to score to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. The score held through halftime.
Conor Morris scored his first goal of the season after playing a loose ball in the box after
Fredrik Aalberg sent in a pass in the 51st minute, 1-1. At the 64:46 mark, Caleb Lucas registered an unassisted goal to give the Scots a 2-1 lead, which held to the finish.
Goalkeeper
Jonathan Moore (5-5-1) made three saves in 90 minutes, while Ryan Jorgensen tallied five saves in a winning effort.
Each side recorded 15 shots and both teams posted five corner kicks.
Methodist closes the regular season on the road on Oct. 26 against LaGrange beginning at 3 pm.
