RALEIGH, N.C. – The Methodist women's tennis team picked up its second conference win on Wednesday afternoon, a 9-0 domination over host William Peace University.
The Monarchs (4-2, 2-0 USAS) did not allow the Pacers (0-4, 0-2 USAS) to score a single point in doubles play, winning all three matches 8-0. The first win came at No. 3 when
Ashton Walker and
Vatrice Williams blanked Anna Grace Wyneken and then at No. 2,
Jenna Landis and
Han Le topped Rachel Peoples and Olivia Egbert. The final win was at No. 1 where
Isabella Graf and
Sam Munze won over Alex Dixon and Sierra Wyse.
In singles play, Walker blanked Wyse 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 and
Davi Barbour clinched the match for Methodist at No. 5, picking up a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Hannah Pailbeck. Next to finish, at No. 6, Zopp bested Wynken 6-0, 6-0, and then at No. 3 Landis topped Peoples, 6-0, 6-0. Graf earned a 6-0, 6-0 win over Dixon at No. 1, and in the longest match of the day, Munze won, 6-1, 6-4, over Egbert.
The Monarchs will travel to Orlando, Fla. next week to play three spring-break games. The first will be on Mar. 8 against Southwest Minnesota State at 3:00 pm.
