FAYETEVILLE, N.C. – The MU women's tennis team extended its winning streak to nine matches on Sunday afternoon, not allowing a single point to be scored in an easy 9-0 win over fellow USA South member Greensboro College.
With the win, Methodist now stands at 9-2 in the overall season and a perfect 4-0 in conference play while GC falls to 0-8 overall and 0-5 in league play.
Greensboro only traveled with four players on Sunday afternoon, allowing the Monarchs to pick up one win in doubles by default at the No. 3 line. The first pair to win were
Davi Barbour and
Riley Zopp at No. 2, who bested Sarah Drummond and Rachel Hamilton, before
Isabella Graf and
Sam Munze topped Ashley Spivey and Molly O'Keefe.
The Green and Gold earned two more wins in singles by default to go ahead, 5-0, before
Ashton Walker beat Hamilton at No. 4. At No. 3,
Jenna Landis topped Drummond and at No. 1, Graf beat Spivey. The final win of the day came from the No. 2 line, where Munze blanked O'Keefe.
The Monarchs will host Maryville on Mar. 25 beginning at 2:00 pm.
